Project Overview

Simplifying Access to Medical Services with Interactive Clinic Mapping

The client, a Danish healthcare and fitness service provider, aimed to streamline the process of locating medical facilities by integrating an interactive clinic map into their digital platform. With a focus on user convenience and transparency, the solution was designed to present a comprehensive view of available medical organizations and help users make informed decisions with just a few clicks. To achieve this, we developed a standalone web application using ASP.NET MVC 3, seamlessly integrating with the client’s existing ecosystem via an embedded map view.

Our approach included developing a secure, role-based admin interface and a simplified user-facing map that could be embedded into the main portal using an iframe. The integration allowed real-time visibility of nearby clinics and supported future enhancements such as a rating and review system to enrich user decision-making.

The Problem

The client, a provider of an online healthcare platform, encountered several critical issues that hindered user engagement, content management, and long-term scalability. These issues fell into the following key areas:

Lack of Visual Navigation

Users reported significant difficulty in locating nearby hospitals, clinics, and other medical facilities. The platform lacked an intuitive, interactive map interface, forcing users to rely solely on text-based searches. This not only slowed down the process of finding care providers but also reduced the overall user satisfaction and trust in the platform's efficiency.

Disconnected User Experience

There was a noticeable disconnect between geographical data and the content displayed on the website. Information about clinics, doctors, and healthcare services was presented in a static, non-contextual manner, limiting its relevance. Without integration between content and location, users struggled to make informed decisions based on proximity, availability, or service coverage.

Limited Admin Capabilities

The internal administrative team lacked the tools to manage dynamic content effectively. Updates to medical facility information, map locations, or service availability had to be handled manually and often involved technical intervention. This created delays, increased the risk of outdated data, and made it challenging to maintain accurate and current platform content.

No Rating or Review System

The absence of a user feedback mechanism such as ratings and reviews left users without a way to assess the quality of clinics or healthcare providers. This significantly limited peer-driven decision-making and reduced transparency. For new users, it was difficult to distinguish between high- and low-quality service providers, which ultimately impacted trust and user retention.

Scalability for Future Features

The existing system architecture was rigid and did not support the seamless addition of new features. The client needed a more flexible and modular solution that could evolve over time—whether integrating appointment booking, telehealth consultations, or patient history management—without disrupting the existing user experience or requiring major system overhauls.

The Solution

To address these challenges, we designed and implemented a dedicated web module for clinic mapping and management using ASP.NET MVC 3.

Independent Web Application

 We developed a standalone site integrated via an iframe into the main portal, ensuring minimal disruption to the existing architecture.

ASP.NET Role-Based Access

 User roles and permissions were securely managed using ASP.NET membership and stored in a SQL Server database, providing admins full control over content and user access.

User-Focused Design

 A clean, simplified view of the map was created to present only relevant geographical data, omitting headers, footers, and navigation, allowing users to focus solely on finding clinics.

Custom Controller Architecture

 Separate controllers and views were developed for different user experiences — admin users could manage content, while general visitors could search the map in read-only mode.

Future-Ready Framework

 The modular structure and clean separation of concerns enabled the client to easily expand features such as clinic ratings and user feedback in subsequent phases.

The Result

A User-Friendly Clinic Discovery Experience with Admin Control and Room to Grow

The deployment of the clinic locator platform brought immediate value by improving how users navigated and interacted with healthcare listings. The new system provided a simplified, map-based experience that allowed users to find relevant clinics with minimal effort. Integration with the client’s main website ensured a seamless journey without the need to leave the existing platform.

On the backend, the administrative module empowered internal teams to manage data securely and efficiently. The project was completed on time and within scope, and has since gained popularity among users for its intuitive interface. The client requests feature updates, reflecting the platform’s strong foundation and high user engagement. Overall, the solution laid the groundwork for a scalable, user-first approach to healthcare discovery.
