Customized Billing Solution A major European online marketplace with over 2 million registered users necessitated eSparkBiz to build a customized billing solution for it. BaaS, which was under usage by the company involved international payments, was costlier and not viable in the long run. Evaluation of both present and future scalability levels led to the final inference that a customized system at home would provide more control and better efficiencies at lower costs.

Collaborative Solution Design Our team had involved the client’s internal stakeholders, including developers, finance, customer support, and security teams to get inside the intricacies of the existing solution, hence understanding how to go about creating a new solution. This was to design a solution that would easily provide an application capable of invoicing, processing payments, handling debt collection, financial reporting, and much more, while allowing scalability, fault tolerance, and being audit-friendly.

Scalable Fault-Tolerant Platform The solution was designed to scale by cloud, utilizing Google Cloud for dynamic resource allocation. Our billing platform was engineered with peak loads in mind and had capabilities of scaling from two up to more than 50 application servers depending on fluctuating demands. Our architecture was designed to be fault-tolerant, so our platform automatically recovered from failures, without interrupted services to the users. Our third-party integration was tight, also involving banks and operators for payment systems, collections agencies of debts, even the accounting system SAP.

Efficient Billing Solution The custom billing platform completely replaced the old BaaS solution because it is more efficient, scalable, and cost-effective. The system has several connected components: invoicing, payment processing, customer notification, credit note matching, and real-time financial reporting. The end result is a robust and user-friendly billing environment that supports business and technical requirements of the marketplace.

The Problem

The client faced high operational costs with their third-party BaaS platform, which was expensive and lacked scalability. The existing system couldn't handle dynamic resource allocation, lacked customization, and raised security and auditing concerns. Additionally, the new solution needed seamless integration with systems like SAP, payment gateways, and customer support software.

The customer was using the third-party BaaS platform for payment gateway but did not want its long-run cost. External system used was getting prohibitively expensive and unsustainable in terms of cost because the same cannot be built at home.

The current system was not flexible to scale in the marketplace efficiently. The business needed a solution that dynamically allocated resources to manage spikes in user activity without unnecessary costs.

Insufficient Customization in BaaS Solution

There was not enough tailoring; that is to say, the BaaS solution did not have enough customization to satisfy the business needs of the client and, therefore had to blend well with the operations at hand, yet give greater control over billing processes.

Security and auditing issues

The old system does not have adequate auditing; therefore, it is hard to track and recover from the potential issues. Therefore, the new platform should be secure, auditable, and log the details for better transparency and troubleshooting.

Seamless Billing System Integration

The new billing system had to be integrated with various other major systems, like SAP accounting, payment gateways, debt collection agencies, and customer support software. This necessitated a smooth and seamless flow of data across the systems involved.

The Solution

SparkBiz designed an economical, customized billing system that would replace the client's third-party BaaS. This solution provides better control, flexibility, and scalability through Google Cloud's infrastructure and manages varying loads more efficiently. It also possesses customized automation, robust security, and smooth integration with SAP and other systems for easy operation and better auditing

Scalable Cloud Infrastructure

The new platform utilizes Google's scalable infrastructure with varying load handling. The system was designed to scale automatically to use anything from two to over fifty app servers based on the users' requests. This dynamic scalability ensured huge traffic spikes to be very efficiently managed within the right utilization of the resources.

Control Through Tailed Features

We designed an array of tailored features suitable to the client's business processes. The features were going to be automated invoicing, processing invoice payments, matching credit notes, and providing real-time financial reports. It had built-in customer notifications on the platform, thus enhancing communications with the users.

Robust security and auditing capabilities

Custom solution incorporates advance security so that a potential threat remains far removed from the platform; it even encompasses comprehensive logging and auditing so that this client was in a better position to trace the transition of their component states, analyze transactions made, and recover from these issues really quickly.

Seamless system integration

It had ensured that seamless integration occurred with existing systems from the client, such as SAP accounting systems and other third-party payment systems. In this manner, proper data sync ensured smoothness of all the processes involved, including payment-from-invoice, to debt collection.

The Result

The custom billing platform was successfully deployed at the client’s e-marketplace, thereby replacing the expensive third-party billing solution. This has proven to be highly scalable, secure, and adaptable while giving the client total control of its billing-related processes. It would help the client manage the user payments efficiently and securely, thus having an optimal user experience.

The new system saves the marketplace huge amounts of costs in terms of operation and also optimizes the efficiency in management of billing operations. Scalability helps the business grow without expensive upgrades, while the features of auditability add transparency.
