Microservices-Based Telehealth Solution Delivered in 9 Months
Client Background & Healthcare Industry Need The Client is an American company dealing with health information technology solutions. It had a long time relationship with eSparkBiz, having worked on different projects for its clients, including medication administration software and incident management systems in assisted living providers. Due to the strong trend of remote healthcare services needed, the Client requested development of a telemedicine platform efficiently and securely connecting patients with health service providers.
Project Objectives and Scope The scope was to come up with a fully integrated telehealth solution encompassing video conferencing, clinical documentation, pharmacy integration, instant messaging, secure prescription management, and secure medication management. The Client desired the solution to be entirely HIPAA compliant and scalable with growing demand without losing its performance quotient.
Technology Selection and Architecture The team then chose a microservices-based architecture to ensure the effective scalability of the system and ease adaptation in the future. Considering video conferencing complexity, it was suggested by eSparkBiz that the existing video platform be utilized rather than building one afresh. This would conserve the Client’s time as well as resources.
Team Composition & Methodology eSparkBiz’s team started with a small group of specialists: a project manager, a business analyst, and a UX/UI designer. When the project developed, other resources were added to the team in order to handle back-end, front-end, and mobile app development. The project was developed using an agile methodology, with regular feedback loops from the Client to ensure that the project stayed aligned with the business goals.
The project faced increasing demand for secure remote healthcare services, complex integration requirements with healthcare systems, and a tight timeline of under 9 months to deliver a robust, scalable, and HIPAA-compliant solution.
The Client realized that the need for telemedicine is increased, especially in terms of providing remote health care services in a post-pandemic scenario. It, therefore, required designing a secure platform where physicians could be able to communicate effectively with patients.
Complex Integration Requirements: Telemedicine application integration had to be very smooth with health care systems. It also had to manage the patient's data in a safe way and had to adhere to the HIPAA regulation. Implementing the video conferencing functionality was problematic on performance, security, and scalability factors.
The client required delivery in less than 9 months. There were high expectations for the solution's robustness, security, and ensuring end-user satisfaction that health care service providers and patients. Therefore, a very tight timeline was a requirement that ensured agility in terms of processes for delivery without compromise on quality.
The platform needed to be designed with scalability in mind to accommodate a growing user base and increasing data volumes. This required a robust and flexible architecture that could easily adapt to future needs and integrate with new technologies and services.
eSparkBiz implemented a microservices-based architecture, secure HIPAA-compliant communication, tailored profiles for doctors and patients, and native mobile apps for seamless access. By integrating a ready-made video platform, the solution ensured high-quality video calls while meeting tight deadlines and maintaining scalability and performance.
eSparkBiz recommended an architecture microservices-based, to surmount the problems of scalability. This made it easy for the service to grow with the growing demand and further business expansion. All services were designed as more independent, thus supporting easy maintenance, faster update, and improved performance from the system.
The product was designed to offer secured, real-time audio-video communication as well as the safe and instant messaging features between healthcare professionals and patients. The software complied with all HIPAA data encryption, access control based on role, as well as the secure transference of data. That way, patient's personal information would remain private, and protected.
Doctor & Patient Profile- custom profiles in health care could update details regarding the patient, exchange documents, and manage associated devices.
eSparkBiz recommended that the Client implement a ready-made video platform to reduce time and cost since creating a new one is not a very efficient approach. It helped meet all project requirements within the deadline, whereas maintaining quality for high video calls from doctors as well as patients.
In addition to the web platform, eSparkBiz had also built native mobile applications for both iOS and Android. Native mobile applications were provided for telemedicine services so that those using them on mobile can make their work smooth and effortless by the user-friendly and responsive design of such apps.
Within 9 months, eSparkBiz delivered a fully operational, HIPAA-compliant telehealth solution that met the requirements of the Client for scalability, security, and user engagement. The microservices-based architecture ensured high performance under increasing user loads, while integration of secure video conferencing and messaging allowed physicians to conduct consultations effectively. It allowed healthcare providers to manage patient data, prescriptions, and appointments effectively.
The telemedicine solution was very soon popularized among its users, and both physicians and patients liked it for being user-friendly, secure, and feature-rich. Once the project was completed, eSparkBiz continued to provide ongoing support, maintenance, and further development of the platform. Some of the features implemented included a self-sign-up option for patients, incorporating regular feedback from the Client, to keep the solution innovative and changing to the evolving demands of health care.
