Fifteen Years of Structuring Engineering Capacity
Harsh Kundariya co-founded eSparkBiz in Ahmedabad in 2010 with a conviction that engineering scale is rarely just a hiring problem. It is a problem of structure. Companies needed more than access to software talent; they needed a better way to build, integrate, and sustain engineering capacity.
That principle shaped the way eSparkBiz evolved. Rather than treating talent acquisition as the end goal, Harsh focused on the structures behind effective delivery, including how teams are assembled, how expertise is integrated, and how distributed engineering capabilities can operate as a cohesive extension of a client's organization.
"Operational excellence is the foundation for strategic growth, managing innovation systematically and applying technology with intent, so clients don't just scale, but genuinely transform."
As client needs evolved from individual project engagements toward longer-term engineering relationships, that philosophy evolved with them, shifting the focus from filling immediate skill gaps to building engineering capabilities that could become part of a client's long-term operating model.
Over the years, eSparkBiz grew into a 400+ engineer organization serving businesses across India and the United States, without outside capital. Its ISO 27001, ISO 9001, and CMMI Level 3 certifications reflect a philosophy Harsh has carried throughout the company's journey: strong engineering outcomes depend not only on talent, but on the processes, standards, and operating discipline around it.
Today, his work centers on a distinction that is often overlooked in engineering strategy: headcount is not the same as capacity. Adding people can increase team size; building the right structure increases what that team can actually deliver. His perspective focuses on the composition, governance, integration, and operating model behind engineering teams, creating delivery capacity that can scale with greater predictability, accountability, and business alignment.

How the Role Changed as eSparkBiz Grew
Running a small delivery team and shaping a 400+ engineer organization require different decisions. These are the points where the role changed with the company.
Started in Ahmedabad with a small team serving overseas clients. Handled client relationships, delivery, and hiring directly, with no separation between running the work and running the company.
What began as short, fixed-scope projects started turning into ongoing relationships. Meeting that demand meant building teams designed to stay embedded with a client, not just deliver and exit.
Larger, more complex engagements demanded more than experience and good teams. Harsh led the shift toward documented processes and formal quality standards, making consistency part of how the company operated.
The US operation gave North American clients a local contracting presence while engineering continued across India. He helped extend the company's reach while keeping the distributed team model that had shaped eSparkBiz's delivery.
As the organization scaled, so did the complexity of leading teams and products. PSM II, PAL I, and PSPO I gave formal structure to years of practical experience across agile leadership, product ownership, and team operations.
The questions have changed. Early on, the work was about delivering a project. Today, the focus is on how staff augmentation, offshore engineering, and dedicated teams designed to adapt as products and priorities evolve can give clients engineering capacity that grows with their needs.
