Context

The situation before the platform

Why an automotive enterprise needed one connected ecosystem instead of a standalone tool per department.

The business

An enterprise automotive operation running vehicle lifecycle management, sales, logistics, finance, after-sales service, factory operations, valuation and regulatory compliance across multiple departments and business units.

The starting point

Each department ran its own standalone tool with little or no synchronisation between them. Data sat in silos, inconsistencies were common, and teams routinely worked from outdated or incomplete information with no single source of truth.

The trigger

Core processes — approvals, document verification, vehicle lifecycle tracking and financial workflows — were still handled through emails, spreadsheets and offline coordination, adding turnaround time and creating room for missed approvals and human error.

What they wanted

One unified operational environment covering vehicle lifecycle, workflow automation, real-time dashboards, valuation intelligence, document management and compliance, with visibility and operational control across departments, teams and business units.

Constraints

The system had to stay intuitive despite genuine multi-module complexity · it had to hold up under high volumes of concurrent operations without losing speed or data integrity · role-based access was required so each user saw only relevant data and workflows · audit trails and compliance validation had to be structural, not reporting added later.

The engineering problem

Four gaps that shaped the build from day one

Not vague pain points — the specific tensions in unifying an entire automotive operation into one system, each paired with what we did about it.

0 1
Disconnected operational systems with no single source of truth

Sales, logistics, service, finance and compliance each relied on standalone tools that operated independently, with little to no synchronisation. Data was siloed, inconsistencies were common, and teams often worked with outdated or incomplete information — which made coordination, reporting and operational execution inefficient.

What we did

Built a unified operational ecosystem that connects sales, logistics, service management, finance, document workflows and factory operations, so teams collaborate against consistent, real-time data across the organisation.

0 2
Approvals and lifecycle tracking handled by email and spreadsheet

Approvals, document verification, vehicle lifecycle tracking and financial workflows were managed manually through emails, spreadsheets and offline coordination. That increased turnaround time and raised the risk of human error, missed approvals and process bottlenecks, with teams spending more time managing process than doing the work.

What we did

Replaced manual handling with an automation engine: rule-driven approval chains, task assignments, notifications and lifecycle management, digitised end to end to cut processing time and remove redundant steps.

0 3
No real-time view of vehicles, stock, workflows or transactions

Decision-makers had no centralised dashboards for vehicle movement, stock status, workflow progress or financial transactions. Without that visibility it was hard to spot issues early, optimise processes or decide with confidence, and delays in information flow led to missed opportunities and poor resource utilisation.

What we did

Introduced live dashboards and real-time tracking built on a dedicated real-time communication layer, so workflow status, vehicle status and performance metrics are visible as they change rather than after the fact.

0 4
Contracts, invoices and approvals with no central document system

Regulatory requirements, contracts, invoices and document approvals were spread across departments with no centralised document management. Tracking document status, proving compliance and maintaining audit trails was cumbersome, which raised the risk of non-compliance and delayed approvals in high-volume environments.

What we did

Implemented centralised document management with OCR, digital signatures and audit tracking, so contracts, invoices and approvals move through one controlled path with compliance evidence captured as work happens.

Architecture

How it fits together

Simplified — the shape rather than every service.

0 1 Clients
Angular 16 · React.js · Blazor Server · Tailwind CSS

Operational dashboards and module interfaces built across Angular, React and Blazor Server, with responsive layouts and role-based views so each user meets only the data and workflows their job requires.

0 2 Gateway
ASP.NET Core · APIs .NET 10 · Authentication & roles

An ASP.NET Core API surface on .NET 10 handles authentication, role-based access control and every client request, giving each module one consistent contract to work against.

0 3 Services
Workflow engine · Document management & OCR Valuation & pricing Logistics & lifecycle Finance & compliance · SignalR real-time layer

Each business domain is developed as an independent but interconnected module, so workflow automation, document processing, valuation, logistics and finance can be extended or tuned without destabilising the rest.

0 4 Data & infra
SQL Server · Entity Framework · Core Dapper · Redis · AWS

SQL Server holds operational, financial and document data, accessed through Entity Framework Core and Dapper where raw query performance matters, with Redis caching and a cloud-ready AWS deployment for enterprise volume.

Scalability was treated as an architectural requirement: a modular design with distributed services and caching is what lets the platform carry high volumes of concurrent operations while holding speed, reliability and data integrity.
Solutions

Six systems doing the actual work

Not a features list — the specific things we built behind every number above.

Unified enterprise operations

All critical automotive business functions — sales, logistics, service, finance, document workflows and factory operations — run inside a single centralised operational environment.

Intelligent workflow automation

An automation engine turns manual, time-consuming processes into rule-driven workflows covering approval chains, task assignments, notifications and lifecycle management.

Real-time operational visibility

Dynamic dashboards and live data streams give stakeholders instant access to operational metrics, workflow status and performance indicators as they change.

Advanced document intelligence

Centralised document workflows combine OCR, digital signatures and audit tracking, simplifying how contracts, invoices and approvals are handled and evidenced.

Valuation and pricing intelligence

Valuation systems draw on real-time data, historical trends and dynamic pricing algorithms, with depreciation logic and valuation workflows built into the platform.

Scalable cloud-ready infrastructure

A modular, cloud-ready architecture with distributed services, caching and high-performance backend systems, sized for enterprise-scale operations and future growth.

Because document processing, signatures and valuation data all resolve against the same services, verifying a document, signing it and pricing the vehicle it belongs to are three steps in one workflow rather than three separate systems.

Security

What protects operational and financial data

The platform holds contracts, invoices, financial transactions and regulatory records across business units — so control and reliability were designed in.

Role-based access control

Access control and personalised views were built into the system design, so each user interacts only with the data and workflows relevant to their role.

Audit trails and compliance validation

Centralised document management with audit tracking makes document status, approvals and compliance evidence traceable rather than reconstructed after the fact.

Validated before release

Security validation ran alongside functional, performance and workflow testing across all modules, as part of bringing the platform to enterprise-grade standards.

Reliability under concurrent load

The system was tuned to handle high volumes of concurrent operations while holding speed, reliability and data integrity, reported at 95% system reliability and uptime.

Process

How we got there

Five stages, starting with how each department actually works rather than a feature list.

0 1
Discover

Stakeholder interviews, cross-departmental workshops and operational audits to understand how each department functioned, where the inefficiencies were, and which integration gaps and automation opportunities existed.

0 2
Define

Workflow maps, user journeys and system blueprints drawn from the discovery findings, with business rules, dependencies and operational hierarchies defined and features prioritised by impact and feasibility.

0 3
Design

A scalable, modular architecture for enterprise-level operations, with dashboards and workflows kept navigable despite the platform's complexity, and role-based access and personalised views built into the design.

0 4
Develop

A high-performance modular ecosystem built with ASP.NET Core, Angular, SignalR and Redis, each module independent yet interconnected, with real-time communication layers, workflow engines and automation services.

0 5
Validate

Functional testing, performance optimisation, security validation and workflow testing across every module, tuned to carry high volumes of concurrent operations without losing speed or data integrity.
